Product Overview
The DS3231 Real Time Clock (RTC) Module is a high-precision I2C clock designed for demanding timekeeping applications in robotics and DIY electronics. Unlike standard RTCs, the DS3231 integrates a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO), ensuring exceptional accuracy even in varying temperatures. This module is essential for projects that require accurate time-stamping, data logging, or scheduling, allowing your microcontroller (such as an Arduino or Raspberry Pi) to keep track of the exact time and date even when the main power is disconnected. It features a built-in battery holder for a CR2032 coin cell (battery not included) to maintain continuous operation.
Key Features
-
High-Accuracy Timekeeping: Built around the DS3231 chip, known for superior precision compared to the DS1307.
-
Dual Output Signals:
-
1 Hz Output (SQW): Provides a precise one-second square wave signal, ideal for generating interrupts or timing pulses.
-
32 KHz Output: Offers a stable 32kHz frequency reference for other components or system synchronization.
-
-
Broad Voltage Compatibility: Operates smoothly within a supply range of 2.2 V to 5.5 V, making it compatible with both 3.3V and 5V logic levels.
-
Complete Calendar Functions: Automatically manages Hours, Minutes, and Seconds (in 12-hour or 24-hour format) as well as Year, Month, Date, and Day, with leap-year compensation.
-
Power Backup Ready: Includes a sturdy battery holder for a CR2032 cell, ensuring the clock keeps ticking during power outages.
